Phonics!

We are having fun learning our letters and sounds. Every week teacher pulls our pictures and a letter from the magical sound box. Here are all the sounds we have done so far.

We love learning the jolly phonics songs and actions. Click on the link to listen.

We also love to play games on Starfall.com and sesame street.org. There are videos and games that are great fun.

Writing box

We have been using the writing box as a morning activity. We enjoy drawing pictures, writing letters and words.

The Secret Garden

We visited Scoil Mhuire's secret garden. This was really fun and we all planted our own winter garlic.

Maths Fun in November

We had lots of fun learning about shape, pattern, length and sets in November!

Here we are making sets using a worksheet and concrete materials. Teacher called out a number and colour and we had to make that set in pairs.

We learned about pattern this month. We know that a pattern is something that repeats itself again and again.

We learned about long and short. Here we are making longer and shorter snakes using marla.

We collected data on our favourite meal.

We have been learning about 2D shapes. So far we have learned about  rectangles and a triangles. We learned rhymes and songs about these shapes. We went on shape hunts,  made sets of rectangles/triangles, played games on the IWB and we are also making a shape book.

Food!

We learned all about food throughout the month of November. We did lots of fun activities. Here are some of the things we did!

We sorted vegetables and fruits into sets and made a vegetable and a fruit book which is now in our class library!

We used fabric and fibre to make pear people!

Teacher brought in fruit for us to taste. We really liked trying different types of fruit. We tasted blueberries, strawberries, oranges, pineapple, apple etc.

We had fun in our class shop during playtime.

We read the story 'Handa's Surprise'.We decided to make our own fruit baskets. We used crepe paper to make our Handa's Surprise collage of grapes, banana's, cherries, oranges and apples.

We learned about healthy and unhealthy foods for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. We sorted healthy and unhealthy foods on the board and created healthy meals using a game on the Interactive Whiteboard.

We made prints using vegetables and fruit-peppers, carrots, apples, lemons and broccoli.

Baa Baa Black Sheep

We learned the rhyme Baa Baa Black sheep. We sequenced the rhyme as a morning activity and we made our own Baa Baa coloured sheep using coloured wool. We liked learning this rhyme!
